Meet The Patina
Wyatt Fisher has counted himself many things. A fisher, a soldier, a master swordsman, a wanderer and everything in between. His life has taken him across countless kingdoms, into countless dangers and adventures, but being the Captain of the Mercenary company known as The Patina has been the most challenging. For the past six years he’s led this band of misfits across the land from one near disaster to the next, always one step ahead of death, and one botched job away from catastrophe. But with “The Knight”, things might actually be turning around for him. He has his sister, the best mechanic he knows, and a decent group around him. If he’s lucky, they’ll help him keep his freedom and keep one foot pointed towards the next job.

Pallie Fisher’s love of machines goes back to her childhood in the Puget Kingdom. She apprenticed to the local mechanic and, after losing her right arm in a Wild Tech accident, built herself a new one. She eventually moved to the town of Bains and built a life for herself as a mechanic, repairing and building technology of every kind. But when her youngest brother ran into bad luck, she was there to help him repair his life, too. She joined him as the Patina came together and has spent the last several years helping him hold the group together on their journey. Compassionate and pragmatic, Pallie has seen a lot of loss in her years, but with the Knight—her greatest project yet—she has reason to think things are finally turning around.

Cassidy has always had a case of wanderlust. Leaving her childhood home and family at the ripe young age of 11 to go explore, she journeyed across the land, working as a cartographer for many years before picking up the bow and the rifle. She joined up with Wyatt, Pallie, and the previous generation of the Patina five years ago, enjoying the company, the nomadic nature of mercenary life, and the communal sense of honor. There’s always bad stuff happening, there always will be, but Cassidy has already faced her own inner struggles and came out the other side better. She *will* keep going anyway, so why not smile at the same time?

Z-000000 (“Zee-o”) is a synthetic humanoid of unknown make, model, and origin. Their systems came online only a few years ago in an abandoned, mostly destroyed facility near Allium, and wandered into the Wackers in search of answers regarding their identity and place in the world. About three years ago, their path crossed with the Patina, and Zee-o was brought along with the crew by Pallie. They are curious, helpful, uncertain, capable, and efficient, although they still seek answers about how they came to be. They are particularly devoted to Pallie and the development of the Knight. Although Wyatt tends to mistrust them, Zee-o gets along fine with the rest of the crew. After all, a fully self-aware synthetic humanoid is not exactly common these days...

Emma was born and raised in the small city of Thunder Bay on the coast of Lake Best. The youngest in a large generation of Blackwoods, Emma has always been the baby of the family and the continued infantilizing by her family as she reached adulthood grew stifling. After a chance encounter and conversation with Pallie, Emma began more seriously pursuing her interest in mechanics as a career in spite of her family's misgivings. When the Patina passed back through town and offered Emma a job, she jumped at the chance to work on such rare technology. It's possible she didn't 100% take the mercenary group aspect into account...

Birdie Foundling is a drifter. After ending up alone as a teenager, she had no choice but to work the systems around her to survive. Being a somewhat meddling social butterfly comes with its perks: having a variety of friends in high and low places, to name one, but it also comes with its own set of difficulties. Perhaps they’re that she’s a bit hard to pin down when it comes to committing to one place or group of people, or that she’s made just as many bad connections as she has good. Though, in such a big world with so much to see and do, she doesn’t have time to dwell on the cons of her lifestyle. Bad things can only catch up to those who let themselves remain idle for too long, and Birdie is a master at running. However, after finding herself stuck with something she can no longer run from, maybe stopping for a bit with a group that calls themselves The Patina wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world…
